This collection consists of legal documents and notes concerning the litigation of Elliott and Polignac Bourquin versus Guillemain (Gulie) Bourquin over the division of their father's property. The papers of 1892-1899 relate to Gugie Bourquin; the remainder relate to the various suits between the brothers.

Gugie Bourquin (1837-1902) was the son of Benedict Bourquin (1795-1875) and was the administrator of his father's estate. Gugie Bourquin was murdered by persons unknown on November 2, 1902. After his death, the estate, which consisted of a large amount of property in Chatham County, was claimed by Guillemain Bourquin (1869-1933) by virtue of a deed of his father to him.
